Cockroach Pest Control
German Cockroach - Blatella Germanica

About 25mm long (female 32mm) dark brown almost black and shiny. Poor climbers which limit their distribution, but they do tolerate cold and may be found outside.

Cockroaches produce an egg case (ootheca), Orientals carry egg cases for about 30 hours then drop them near a food source, each case carrying about 16 eggs. German cockroach egg cases hold about 40 eggs and are carried right up until 1-2 days before hatching. Cockroaches are born looking like adults but much smaller, going through several molts till reaching adulthood. Cockroaches are active at night and they will eat absolutely anything including each other. They have a habit of vomiting undigested food which contains disease organisms. Controls involve the the use of insecticide sprays, dust and baits. Treatments must be very thorough as they can get into the smallest of gaps and crevices.
